Underappreciated
Okay, I haven't blogged in a while. My LJ has been more active because I haven't been "less open" lately, so I barely had any use for this. But I just suddenly felt like I have to say something.
Today, mom and manong just came back from the states. When I got home, manong wasn't around and my mom was asleep, so I didn't bother trying to think of waking her up.
I went to my room and found a stack of UGLY clothes on top of my bed. Hoping it wasn't mom's pasalubong, ate told me that some were Shanee's and some were mine. Ate told me how she told mom that the clothes were HIDEOUS and what she should have done is, give us cash for shopping instead. Which is TRUE. She should have. Because I discarded, like 98% of the clothing and kept just two shirts.
When mom woke up, I told her about the clothes. She told me that Manang Frances helped her pick the clothes and sayang yung clothes kasi sale sila. Then I just went on saying how useless it is to buy branded clothes for sale if they were FUGLY. I mean, HELLO! I don't care if it was a $5 Levis shirt. You can get something better in freaking BENCH!
Also, there is NO WAY IN FREAKING HELL THAT MANANG FRANCES PICKED THOSE CLOTHES. I mean, there were 2 matching jackets there in 2 different sizes. One supposedly for me and the other for Shanee. MATCHING JACKETS, WHUT?!?! And they look like they were from the freakin' 60's! And she even said that those were in style. AMP. HELL NO! =))
But telling mom that neither of us really liked the clothes, I think, made her feel bad. I know that she wants us to respect her, appreciate her more by surprising us with branded clothes and all. But the fact that she doesn't know her kids well enough to appreciate her is making her fail, miserably.
I sensed her reaction when I told her that she should've given us cash instead. Which, in all honesty, is more practical than spending on things that no one will EVER use. I have half the mind to just give it to the poor @_@. Those who need clothing and will appreciate it more than us ingrates. But all my mother did was say "bahala na lang kayo..."... edi, pinabayaan ko na lang.
I know that she's upset. But seeing her made me realize why Shanee isn't as open as she should be. She's like mom. She refuses to let her pride go. They both refuse to let their pride go. They both think that doing it their way, is the right way. Now, look at them:
My mother has children who mostly appreciate her cooking.
My sister has no friends, isn't talking to anyone in the family except my older brother and the maids.
I never want to be like that. No one should.
